PROLOGUE: Several randonneurs, all alike in dignity In fair Stratford where we lay our scene. Passing through prescribed controls, On each their own two-wheeled machine. Despite past failures and successes One rider seeks to up his game. A tradition of his local chapter; A new accomplishment to claim. Combining exercise and culture, Adding challenge to today's brevet, They'd ride hard to the town of Stratford To sit a meal, and watch a play. Continuing their prescribed course; The aptly named 'Much Ado About...' The randonneurs would hurry back To the last control before time runs out. ## Route Logistics - Total Distance: ~200 km - Format: Clockwise Loop (Start/End: Ilderton) - Terrain: Gently rolling agricultural plains with quiet, long-grid concessions. - Surface: 100% Paved. ## About the ride Named after Shakespeare's classic comedy, the Much Ado About Nothing 200 offers a beautiful, winding journey through the heart of Perth and Huron counties, balanced by a distinct tactical challenge for those looking to mix culture with endurance cycling. Departing North London, the route heads north-along smooth rural concessions, making its first pass through the scenic stone architecture of St. Marys. From there, riders push further north into the quiet agricultural heartland to clear the northern turnaround control at Milverton. Turning east, the route passes the famous regional landmark of Millbank—highly recommended for a swift butter tart fuel stop—before tracking south directly into the historic arts hub of Stratford. For riders opting to catch a matinee at the Stratford control, the clock is the real antagonist. With plays starting at 2:00 PM sharp, arriving from the north loop requires a disciplined, high-tempo morning effort. Once the curtain falls, riders must immediately re-focus for a swift afternoon push through Thorndale to reach the final cutoff back in London before the 13.5-hour brevet limit expires.
